Past Finding Out

One of the first things we must know is that our knowledge and understanding are tiny and God*s knowledge and understanding are infinite, immeasurable. When we know that one thing, we will know that we need Him and what He wants to teach us.

Proverbs 9:13: A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.

1 Corinthians 8:2: And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

Ephesians 3:19: And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Philippians 4:7: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

God knows everything. By comparison, we know nothing. The best comparison I can think of is to compare what I know to one drop of water in an ocean and what God knows is like the ocean. But to be more accurate the drop of water would have to be much smaller.

John 16:30: Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

John 21:17: He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

We need to be taught by the Bible.

Romans 15:4: For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

2 Timothy 3:16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

We need the teachers He gives. We find them in Biblical churches.

Ephesians 4:11: And he gave . . . pastors and teachers;

We must be taught by the One Who Knows Everything by the Holy Spirit.

John 14:26: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

And, of course, we are not given the Holy Spirit until and unless we receive Jesus.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Galatians 4:6: And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

If we are to know anything at all of what God wants us to know we need to receive Jesus. We need to be taught by the Bible itself, Biblical teachers and the Holy Spirit. If we only have two of the three we will be like two-legged stools that wouldn*t stand up. If we only have one of them we could fall in any direction. And even when we have all three we still only have the beginning of knowledge.

Proverbs 1:7: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 9:10: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Job 9:10: Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.

Romans 11:33: O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
